But planning a wedding in Sardinia is not always simple, especially when you dream of something unconventional and truly personal.
Here are a few practical tips I always share with my couples — whether they are Sardinian or planning a destination wedding from abroad.
Choose the Area Carefully
Sardinia is not as “small” as it may seem. The north and south differ in distances, suppliers, transport connections, and even seasonality. If your guests are travelling from abroad or from other regions, it is important to carefully consider:
- Proximity to the airport;
- Nearby accommodation options;
- Ease of transportation and travel logistics.

Be Mindful with Non-Traditional Weddings
A wedding on the beach, in the countryside, among vineyards, or in a private estate can be absolutely magical — but it requires careful planning.
In Sardinia, there are regulations to respect, permits to request, local authorisations to obtain, and sound restrictions after certain hours. An unconventional wedding is entirely possible, but it needs to be approached with awareness and expertise.
Take the Weather Seriously
Wind is never just a detail here. The Mistral wind can transform an entire setup within minutes. Summer heat can be intense, and even May or September may bring unexpected weather changes. Having a solid Plan B is essential — always.
Work with Suppliers Who Know the Island
Always choose professionals who truly understand the territory:
a photographer who knows Sardinia’s unique light, a florist who understands which flowers withstand the wind, and a catering team experienced in managing seaside venues and complex logistics.
When planning from abroad, this becomes even more important. If you live overseas or outside the region, having someone locally coordinating every detail is invaluable.

Many of Sardinia’s most beautiful venues are located in more remote areas. Always consider:

- Parking availability;
- Shuttle services;
- Real travel times.
Distances on the map do not always reflect the reality of Sardinian roads.

If you choose to get married in Sardinia, remember that for many of your guests this will be a journey, not simply an invitation.
